SKATE AGORA
The site located behind Playa de la Barca María in Badalona had been occupied for a long time by industrial buildings that were used as music bars in the "el Manresà" neighbourhood. The Agora Skatepark project was born from the intention of reclaiming the coastline as a public space for leisure and sport, giving importance to its relationship with the beach and the sea. The whole space is developed around its central part, where its soul is located, which is the skatepark, built by California Skateparks.
In order for the space to become a public space, it was necessary to study the pedestrian circulation coming from both the beach and the city, as well as from the train station.
The modules that house the covered programme; the school, the shop and the bar-restaurant, are used to boost access and generate activity on both sides of the skatepark, thus dynamizing the entire enclosed space. Green spaces and trees are used to delimit different sub-spaces within the park.
